The area is steeped in history with many majestic homes in this one-of-a-kind neighborhood. The Tulpehocken Station District has been added to the National Register of Historic Places because of the significant amount of grand, mid- and late-19th century homes that survive in such remarkable condition. It is a quintessential example of the initial development of suburbs in American History, which drew wealthy city-dwellers out to the "country" in the wake of Industrialization. Today, the neighborhood gives a bit of historic living to professionals and students who choose to live out of the city and yet so close to everything that Philadelphia has to offer.
